Do You Need Healing?
Do you need healing? Healing in your body? Healing in your mind? Maybe both? If you’ve tried treatments, healthcare providers, doctors, and nurses, and you still need healing, then take one more step.
Consider the source of your life, the creator of heaven and earth. Have you turned to Him? Have you asked and prayed that He would heal you and renew your mind, body, and spirit?
Now I’m not dissing medical treatment. I go to the doctor when I need to, and I think you should too. But when those treatments don’t work, what then? Do you fall into depression or despair? Give way to anger? Self-pity? Or do you turn to the very source of life and ask for help, ask for healing as this man did?
Christ Healing the Paralytic Man
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed…”
When you first realize you need healing, you might go to a doctor or a clinic. But now you’ve tried that. Medical skill has its place in our lives, but to seek healing, we also have to turn to God.
Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;
Jeremiah 17:14 NIV
save me and I will be saved,
for you are the one I praise.
But when medical treatment alone does not work, then you may want to use different means, different weapons to fight that which ails you.
“Divine power to demolish…”
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV
Can a doctor heal you? No, not really. The doctor can diagnose the problem. Point to a source of infection or a breakdown in your heart or lungs, or leg. Then the doctor can prescribe a course of treatment. Hopefully, it works, but medical treatment can only aid and assist your own immune system and your body’s own healing processes.
If you recognize God as your creator, then I believe it makes sense to turn to the source of your body, mind, and spirit. The source of life itself. Whatever it may be that ails you, I hope and pray you get the best possible care in both this world and in the spiritual realm also.
Healing begins within you just as disease does. To start healing, I believe you need to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. Start now.
