Cover Design For The Last Disciple: Gospel of John
I’d like to share with you the cover design for The Last Disciple: Gospel of John. This is book four in the series and it’s scheduled for release next month. With this cover design, I wanted to portray a pivotal series of events in the Gospel of John.
The Burial And The Tomb
After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body. 39 Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.[a] 40 So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid. 42 Then because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.
John entered the empty tomb and believed.
Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb. 4 They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first. 5 Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn’t enter in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying, 7 and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.

Cover Design — Darkness To Light
In this image, our eyes are drawn from the darkness inside the tomb to the light outside. We look past the heavy stone that was used to seal the tomb and see three crosses in the distance illuminated by the sun’s golden glow.
I love the look and the symbolism of this design and I hope you do too. In my mind, it ties in beautifully with the events in the Gospel of John.
The Last Disciple Series

Hi Frankie,
Thank you so much for your kind comments. There is so much we can learn from the study of Christian history. The first Christians were amazing people and I have great admiration for them and their faithful perseverence.
I am working on all the little details right now to get book four finished and on Amazon.com. Lots to do, but I hope to have it done in February.
