God’s Perspective On Prayer
Let’s step back a bit and look at prayer through God’s eyes rather than our own. What is God’s perspective on prayer? We can best learn his point of view from the Bible. God makes it clear throughout the Bible that prayer is the key to our relationship with him.
Here is a great formula from God for personal prayer:
…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
The Word Of God Encourages Us to pray
We have the joy and the opportunity to seek and find God through prayer. In fact, the Bible strongly encourages us to pray. You can pray for yourself, for others, and for any topic that comes to mind.
Pray Privately
If you want to get to know someone, you do it one on one, don’t you? Being in a group can be great, but that’s not the way you get really close. This works the same way with God. Seek him in private. Go off by yourself and pray. That’s how you develop your relationship with him.
Pray & Give Thanks
Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
Pray for God’s People
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18 NIV
What Matters Is Your Heart
How you pray is personal. No doubt your way will be different from mine. The details do not matter too much. Instead, what matters is your heart.
Are you consciously seeking God in prayer with all your heart?
Yours in Christ, Kurt
